Body pulled from Rainy River identified

The OPP say they have identified a body pulled out of the Rainy River near Emo.

He’s an American citizen who has been missing since December 28th.

On January 11th, the Rainy River Detachment of the OPP received a request from the International Falls Police to help with the missing person investigation.

US law enforcement believed he had crossed into Canada at a location other than an official port of entry.

The body of 59-year-old Michael Tjosaas was pulled from the river earlier this month and since then, he has been positively identified.

The OPP say the cause of death is consistent with drowning and foul play is not suspected.
