Collision results in impaired driving charge

A single vehicle collision on Lakeview Drive has resulted in impaired driving charges for the driver.

The accident took place early Sunday morning when a vehicle drove into a hotel.

The driver fled on foot into a nearby wooded area.

The Emergency Response Team and a K-9 unit were called in and subsequestly located the suspect.

It was determined the 38-year-old man was impaired by drugs and taken to the Kenora Detachment for further testing.

In addition to the impaired driving charge, he’s also been charged with failing to report an accident.

The driver also had his driver’s license suspended for 90 days, and his vehicle impounded for 7 days.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora on June 5th to face the charges.
