3 new forest fires among 11 burning in northwestern Ontario

There are 11 active forest fires in Northwestern Ontario, three of which are new.

Of the fires, five are not under control, three are being held, and three are under control as of Saturday evening, just after 7:00 p.m.

The Thunder Bay District has two new fires.

Thunder Bay 10 is a 0.1 hectare fire located roughly eight kilometres north of Hogarth Lake.

This fire is not under control.

Thunder Bay 11 is a 0.1 hectare fire burning roughly eight kilometres southwest of Graham Lake.

This fire is also not under control.

The remaining new fire, Sioux Lookout 6, is located north of Cat Lake.

The 0.3 hectare fire is being held.

The wildland fire hazard remains high to extreme for the western areas of the region.

The Thunder Bay and Nipigon areas continue to remain at low to moderate fire hazard levels.
