The city launches housing survey

The City of Kenora wants to get a clearer picture of the housing situation in the community.

To that end, a survey has been launched targeting both residents and businesses.

Stace Gander is the Director of Economic Development and Tourism and says the feedback they get is valuable.

“While we have all sort of projections that look at of what we’re going to need in the future for housing, what we don’t have a really good feel for is what the current demand is,” states Gander.

“So, the purpose of this project is to really understand today what the need is for housing in Kenora.”

Gander says they survey is a necessary tool to find out the demand.

“We can use that information to either attract housing development or work with CMHC (Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation) to have them better understand what our current need is, because right now the CMHC doesn’t understand the need we have here in Kenora.”

This is the second of the survey the City of Kenora has launched.

An economic development survey wrapped up on Friday.

The housing survey will only take about 5 minutes to complete.
