Winnipeg woman drowns in Whiteshell

The Whitemouth RCMP say they are investigating a drowning at Sturgeon Falls in Whiteshell Provincial Park.

Police were initially contacted Saturday afternoon just before 1 pm about a woman slipping off some rocks and going into the water.

The strong current pulled her into Nutamik Lake.

She was taken to hospital after being pulled out of the water by a Manitoba Conservation Officer who was in a boat.

The 38-year-old woman Winnipeg later passed away.
