SIU clears Sioux Lookout OPP

The Ontario Special Investigations Unit has found no wrongdoing on behalf of staff at the Sioux Lookout Detachment of the OPP in an incident last November.

An 18 year old woman had used a razor blade to harm herself.

She was picked up on November 24th for breaching the peace and was held under the Mental Health Act.

She was then taken to the detachment and stripped searched, and while the handcuffs were removed, she took a razor blade and superficially cuts her wrists.

When ordered to drop the razor blade, she swallowed it.

She was taken to the Meno-Ya-Win Health Center for it to be removed.
