21 wildfires burning in Northwestern Ontario

No new wildfires are burning in Northwestern Ontario.

One fire popped up Wednesday east of Highway 71 in the Kenora District but has since gone out.

There are 21 fires burning in the area. Seven are out of control, six are under control, and eight are being observed.

The Forest Fire Service says the three largest fires are the same size as they were on Tuesday.

Red Lake 12 is 163,000 hectares, Nipigon 5 is 10,800 hectares, and Kenora 20 is 36,000 hectares.
