Sioux Lookout OPP officer charged with assault

A Sioux Lookout OPP officer has been charged with assault.

The Ontario Special Investigation Unit looked into an incident on January 31st when a 50-year-old man sustained a serious injury.

The SIU says it has reasonable grounds to believe the officer committed a criminal offense.

Constable Michael Berger has been charged with one count of assault.

He’s to appear in Sioux Lookout Court on July 29th.

Because the case is before the courts, the SIU says no other details about the incident are being released at this time.
