Total wildfires reaches lowest of the week in Northwest Ontario

One new wildfire was found burning in Northwestern Ontario yesterday.

It is about 2000 square metres in size and out of control on the east side of the Throat River, according to a news release.

But the overall amount of fires burning has reached its lowest point this week, with 44 burning across the region, 10 out of control and 5 under control.

The fire hazard varies from low to high across the area.

The risk is is extreme around Marten Falls First Nation as well as west of Big Trout Lake.
