Smoke causing air quality warnings across northwestern Ontario

Smoke is hanging over most of northwestern Ontario.

Air quality warnings are in place for north of Dryden and west of Fort Hope.

Air quality statements are in place for most of the rest of the region.

It’s because of smoke moving east from the fires on the prairies.

In northwestern Ontario, one new wildfire appeared Monday about 16 kilometres west of Kenora, but firefighters put it out.

There are 44 fires burning in the region, with seven under control and seven out of control.
