Two youths have drowned in Dryden.

The OPP say a 15-year-old boy and a 12-year-old girl went into the Wabigoon River around 4:10 Thursday afternoon.

They did not resurface from the water.

The OPP’s Emergency Response Team, Dryden Fire Service, and Northwest EMS provided assistance.

Both youths were located and recovered from the water, but there were unfortunately pronounced dead at the hospital.

The identity of the victims is not being released out of respect for the family’s privacy.
