Kenora, Dryden and Fort Frances are teaming up for a new survey about air travel in northwestern Ontario.
In particular, it wants to know what kind of service should be provided by a commercial air carrier.
Ryan Reynard is chair of the Kenora Airport Authority and says the information is valuable.
“The idea is to get this great information and roll it into a feasibility report that we can use, hopefully, with some airlines,” Reynard explains.
“The vision of the survey is to re-establish the commercial schedule. So, we’re trying to find out the most recent data on how many time people are flying, would they be willing to fly from Kenora, Dryden or Fort Frances. Would they be willing to provide letters of support, if they are a business…would they commit to using the airport.”
In May of 2024, Kenora, Dryden and Fort Frances lost daily air service provided by Bearskin Air.
The survey is open until the end of September.
