Two charged after 500 kg of copper wire seized near Atikokan

Two people from Alberta are facing charges after Ontario Provincial Police seized nearly 500 kilograms of copper wire following a single-vehicle crash on Highway 11 near Mine Centre.

Police say they responded Friday morning to a rollover that left the involved vehicle demolished.

Two occupants were treated for minor injuries.

At the scene, officers found a large quantity of copper wire cut into short pieces.  In total, 490 kilograms were recovered, along with a small amount of crystal meth.
