Hydro One providing support to community projects

Hydro One is rewarding 28 organizations and communities across the province with $25,000 grants.

The funding comes from the utility’s Energizing Life Community Fund, established to support local community projects.

Several projects in northwestern Ontario will benefit.

The Northwestern Ontario Women’s Centre is using its money to expand a food access program.

Animakee Wa Zhing #37 (formerly known as Northwest Angle 37) is updating an existing outdoor space used for historical education lessons and by elders who teach the Anishinaabe language.

Dryden’s Fire Service is creating a virtual training program that teaches proper use and operation of fire extinguishers.

Mishkosiminiziibiing (Big Grassy First Nation) is creating trails for members to safely travel across the community.

Northwestern Ontario Women’s Centre in Thunder Bay is expanding a food access program for low-income earners and those facing food insecurity.

The Township of O’Connor is building an accessible intergenerational playground and exercise space to promote physical activity and social connection within the community.
