A 21 year old woman from Whitefish Bay First Nation faces a number of charges after police learned the vehicle she was driving was stolen.
The incident started around 5 pm on Saturday after Treaty 3 Police received a report of the stolen vehicle.
The driver was suspected to be impaired.
Along with the Kenora OPP, officers located the vehicle on Highway 71.
The vehicle fled from police, and a spike belt was deployed.
The woman then ran away on foot, but was located a short time later by a Canine Unit and the Emergegency Response team.
It was determined she had been drinking alcohol and was given a breath test at the Kenora Detachment.
She has been charged with:
· Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
· Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
· Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
· Flight from peace officer
· Dangerous Operation
· Driving while under suspension
· Driving a motor vehicle with open container of liquor
She appears in Kenora court Tuesday on the charges.
