The Township of Sioux Narrows-Nestor Falls is honouring the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation a couple of days early.
Our Path Forward is a full afternoon of live performances and guest speakers is being held on Saturday.
Denise Lysak is the cultural officer for the town and says they are doing it in conjunction with the four First Nations surrounding Sioux Narrows-Nestor Falls.
“I think there is a genuine interest in looking at how we can share stories and share new beginnings and look at a new path forward for both settlers and for members of the Indigenous community,” says Lysak.
“There will be a mishmash of things. There will be stories, there will be Indigenous drumming, dancing, singing and there will be some live music performances, including local acts, as well as some from further afield.”
The event will take place from 1 pm until 6 pm in the 4-season recreational center behind the municipal office.
