Hey Kenora! It’s October 1st, and today’s show was jam-packed! Whether you tuned in from work, the car, or streamed online, here’s a recap of Wednesday’s Lake Afternoon Drive.
Truth & Reconciliation Day in Kenora
We kicked things off with a heartfelt wrap-up of Truth & Reconciliation Day. I hope you got out to the Cecilia Jeffrey Memorial Site or the Jarnel Contracting Pavillion for an important day of reconciliation and healing. There was also a BBQ, live music, and a drum social.
If you missed it, check out my videos below.
Strikes, Stars & Stunning Scenery
We also dove into the college support staff strike and what it means for students and the future.
Then it’s Miley Cyrus time. Her Malibu home is finally rebuilt after the 2018 fire, and she’s calling it a blessing. So, I asked you: if your house was on fire and everyone was safe, what’s the one thing you’d grab? Here were your answers:
Also, since it’s October, send in your best fall shots! No pro camera needed, just a good story and a love for Northwestern Ontario.
Drake, Dollars & Debates
Drake just won six SOCAN Awards (Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada) in one night! And he wasn’t even there!
Minimum wage also went up today to $17.60/hour in Ontario. That’s the second highest in Canada. Teens working retail might finally afford their own gas!
And we’re also talking GST. Should it go back up to 7% to help with Canada’s deficit? You shared your thoughts!

Treasures & Throwbacks
We dug into how to find the best Halloween costumes, hockey skates, and lake gear for an affordable price.
And yes, we’re talked Spice Girls reunion. Is it happening? Maybe. Maybe not. But if you’ve still got your Union Jack tank top, now might be the time to dust it off.
Hope you were able to tune in for another fun show!
And like always, if you’ve got an opinion, share it with me on the TBay Tel Talk & Text Line. Call or text anytime between 2 and 6pm, Monday to Friday!
