NDP launch petition in support of Ear Falls workers

The NDP in the Kenora-Rainy River Riding have drafted a petition in response to the sawmill closure.

They says it’s about corporate decision making driven by profit margins.

It adds there has been no meaningful intervention from the Ford government.

The riding NDP says the town depends on the mill for its economic survival and it’s not just job loss; it’s a community crisis.

The on-line petition asks the federal and provincial governments to support the affected workers; and establish a Forestry Job Protection Task Force.
