A trail system that runs through Northwest Ontario from Thunder Bay to Kenora has received some financial help.
Wrapping up Sunday, the Great Canadian Hike brought in over $100,000 dollars to help support the Trans Canada Trail.
The trail is the world’s longest multiuse trail system and links the country coast-to-coast.
The 30-day challenge saw more than 2,100 participants log over 94,000 kilometres in the fundraising initiative.
Funds raised through the initiative will help maintain, repair and enhance trails throughout the country.
Kilometres are no longer being tracked but donations will remain open until Nov. 16 and can be made online.
