Lake Afternoon Drive: Your Weekend Plans

Kenora’s in that classic November mood. Too cold to swim but a lake that’s not quite frozen enough for ice fishing.

So what’s a family to do?

This weekend, it’s all about finding warmth in the little things. Kenora’s got plenty of hiking trails that are now mostly free of tourists.

Last weekend, my dog and I were out at Tunnel Island (Waa’say’Gaa’Boo) trail at 8am and, because of the time change, there wasn’t a single car in the parking lot.

Another option is to cozy up at home and catch the Jets game tonight. Perfect excuse to skip cooking and order in.

If you’re feeling generous and hungry, grab an Ultimate Burger from Cottage Time Public House or 901 Westside. Not only are they delicious, but $2 from every burger goes to support local food programs. That’s comfort food with a cause.

Looking for something meaningful to do with the kids? Operation Christmas Child is in full swing. Grab a shoebox, fill it with small gifts, and teach your little ones about empathy and giving.

It’s a simple act that can ripple across the globe. And it’s a great way to start a family tradition.

Whether you’re bundling up for a brisk walk, staying in with a blanket and hockey, or giving back in small ways, this weekend is yours to make warm.

Even if the weather isn’t.

Catch me, Caleb, live on 89.5 The Lake, Monday to Friday from 2 to 6pm for your Afternoon Drive. I’ll keep you company with stories, updates, and a few laughs to get you through the day.
