Lake Afternoon Drive: Flipping the teen romance script

Forget what you thought about high school love stories.

A new University of Michigan study says teenage boys in 2025 are more likely to dream about marriage than girls.

Back in the ’90s, over 80% of girls had “get married” on their life checklist. Today, most are saying, “I’m not sure.”

Girls aren’t looking for a provider, they’re planning to be the provider. Degrees, careers, independence. That’s the goal.

Meanwhile, the boys are still hoping someone will marry them and keep life organized.

Does that sound like your house? Son = secret romantic, daughter = future CEO?
