June Della Motheral (nee Wetendorf)

June Della Motheral (nee Wetendorf)
April 17, 1940- August 30, 2025

In her 86th Year. It’s with great sadness that June’s family announces her passing, peacefully at home.

She leaves behind her daughter Tracy Pyke (Ian) and son Cheney Venn (Karri). A huge loss for her grandchildren Andrew, Kennedy and Trinity. She is survived by her brother Ed (Rita). June also has many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews who she cherished.

She is predeceased by her longtime partner, Wilf Symonds, mother and father, Stephania and Clifford Wetendorf, sister Emily Batiuk, brothers Bert (Jean), Larry (Josie) and Jim (Mindy).

Born in Kenora and raised on a farm on the Reddit Road, she knew the love of a large tight knit family. She carried on that tradition with her own nuclear and extended family, arranging get togethers, reunions and other events. She travelled with Tracy and her family and was a fixture for many Christmases in Fort Myers, Florida with Cheney and his family.

June worked for the Town of Kenora for 28 years helping pioneer the first computer driven utility bills and later moving to public works where she was the Assistant and later Lead Timekeeper. June was still in contact with her “second family” from her working days and loved going for coffee or lunch with them.

June loved the Lake of the Woods where she and Wilf spent many summers boating, fishing or just hanging out on the island.

June was an avid bowler and in the early 2000’s won the Ontario Masters. She also spent many years coaching for the Youth Bowling Council, positively influencing her young teams and building lasting relationships with their families.

Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday September 11, 2025 at Perch Bay Resort from 2 until 6pm. Food and refreshments will be served.

The family wishes to thank everyone for their tremendous outpouring of support at this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Lake of the Woods District Hospital, or Thunder Bay Cancer Care, would be greatly appreciated.
