The Dryden OPP have seen a decrease in violent crime this year.

In the first nine months of 2025, violent crime was down in all areas.

Staff Sergeant Mitch Davis says were 8 sexual offenses reported in the three months from July to September, a decrease of 46 percent from the same period last year.

“There were some historical sexual offenses within the eight sexual offenses…the majority are still being investigated,” Davis told the Dryden OPP Detachment Police Board recently.

Overall, there were 21 sexual offenses reported, a drop of 46 percent from 2024.

Davis also notes were 28 assaults investigated in the 3rd quarter, a drop of almost 38 percent.

“Of the 28 assaults, the majority were intimate partner violence. Then we had one robbery, which was the robbery from the Husky involving a knife.”

Overall, in 2025 there were 97 assaults, or a 23 percent decrease.

There was also a drop in property crime this year of 41 percent.
