Mayor predicts a good year for construction in Kenora

2025 was a good year for construction, and 2026 could be just as strong.

That’s according to mayor Andrew Poirier.

He suggests there are a number of projects that are ready to begin this year.

“We’re looking to have a lot more building activity on the mill property in the spring and that’s a variety of commercial, institutional and housing,” says Poirier.

Poirier adds there are a number of developments being planned.

“We’re working with another developer, who’s looking to begin another project in 2026, beyond all the other things that are going on. There’s a number smaller pieces, but they all add up.”

In 2025, the City of Kenora had more than $76 million in building activity.
