Because Elvis didn’t just make hits. He wrote the blueprint for the modern pop star: the voice, the swagger, the look, the stage presence, the whole “you can’t look away” thing.
And you can draw a straight line from Elvis to today’s biggest artists. Bruno Mars literally started out as a kid doing Elvis. Ed Sheeran has paid tribute to Elvis on TV. Even Harry Styles has talked about growing up singing Elvis songs.
