Poirier one of North Star’s first customers out of Kenora

North Star Air is starting to fly out of the Kenora Airport.

The first flight with paying customers left this morning.

Mayor Andrew Poirier was one of the passengers, and says it was a pretty seamless excursion.

“The people I was on the plane with said ‘this is slick, this is something I’m going to use again,’ “relayed Poirier.

“It saves you that six-hour drive on a very treacherous highway.

Poirier adds he had no problem catching his connecting flight to Toronto from Thunder Bay.

“It was a great flight. You know, we were chatting on the plane (with the other passengers) and the next thing you know we were touching down in Thunder Bay, so the hour went very quick.”

Poirier is on his way to the Rural Ontario Municipal Association conference in Toronto.

He has a meeting Friday afternoon at Queen’s Park, followed by more meetings Saturday before the actual conference begins on Sunday.
