SIU terminates Sioux Lookout investigation

The Ontario Special Investigations Unit has ended its investigation of a man who broke his wrist while in custody of the Sioux Lookout OPP.

The 37-year-old was arrested on July 31st of last year for public intoxication.

While in lock-up, he stood on one of the cell’s two benches, lost his footing a fell hard onto the floor.

He was taken to the Meno-Ya-Win Health Center for treatment of the fracture.

The SIU says reviewing video footage shows police were not responsible for his injury and the man was solely liable for his broken wrist.
