Sioux Lookout receives funding to expand wastewater plant

The Municipality of Sioux Lookout is planning to expand it’s wastewater treatment plant.

It’s going to be a costly project…more than 22.7 million dollars.

The province is coming to the table with the bulk of the funding, 16.6 million dollars.

The town will contribute 6.1 million dollars towards the project.

Mayor Doug Lawrance says this is a critical piece of infrastructure for the town.

“This project is essential to the future growth and development of Sioux Lookout, and we would not be able to proceed without this funding.”

The funding is coming from the Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program, Health and Safety Water stream.
