The City of Dryden has coughed up over $300,000 in legal fees over the past couple of years.
The legal costs were outlined in a report to city council this week.
Mayor Jack Harrison says it’s important to show taxpayers how their money is being spent.
“So, it’s really important for council to be transparent of what the financial costs are and what the activities of council have been,” Harrison told council while relating details of the report.
Councillor Bryan Tardiff says legal costs don’t include a significant chunk of money for their insurance company.
“Council Noal’s allegations of character assassination in the media release, where he took the city to court and then it was eventually dropped, but we did have to pay our insurance company a $15,000 deductible to handle that one.”
The report outlines that the city also spent $11,000 over the past two years on Integrity Commissioner investigations.
