Kenora adds new fees for outdoor pickleball courts

It could to cost you if you want to play pickleball on the Garrow Park pickleball courts.

There will be a charge for certain times of the day.

General manager of Recreation and Culture Andrew Smith says the Kenora Pickleball club has agreed to pay $55 dollars a week for the right to play on the courts.

“What we’re really looking for, as well as providing the free option and the free services, is for individuals to join the Kenora Pickleball Club,” Smith explained to council recently.

“They have a great insurance. You know, they are structured…they are a great group to deal with.”

Smith adds there are youth and adult rates.

“The reason why they are in there, is so that people can rent the courts to offer programming, in term of learn to play…you know small leagues, in addition to the pickleball club.”

He also says there are youth rates and drop-in rates that are free of charge.

Smith says the new rates will help with misunderstandings regarding court access.
