Kenora Pickleball report – week #2

By Jim Mowrey, Jun Laffin and James Tkachyk

Wednesday Morning Ladders finally got underway. It was good to see some Pickleball friends that we haven’t seen since last summer… It was nice. All 32 players had to deal with very gusty winds with a very light plastic ball the size of a baseball… there were some very unexplained shots being made.

In Group 4, Andrea Burgelis came out the winner and also won a  $25 gift certificate from “901 Westside Restaurant” as “The Player of the Day”. Congrats to Andrea. Group 3 was won by Dave Harrison who went undefeated. Group 2’s winner was Rick Strain. Group 1 was won by Julie Pellerin. She beat me by 3 points and I played pretty good..

Wednesday Evening Play: Jason Toth was the retired king of the court because there was one extra player so after he won his 5th game, he sat out. Jitendra Jitendra and Korelle McDonald won the final game against Danielle Toth and Bob Clemmens on the top court. Colleen Snyder was this week’s MVP and won a Free Pizza Voucher from Boston Pizza. It is very difficult to play against experienced competitive players as a beginner, but she played all games like a champ.

Thursday Morning Ladders… Under sunny skies and nice temperatures, 32 members played with that pesky south wind ( same as on Wednesday morning ). Group 1 winner was Murray Bamforth for the second week in a row. Group 2 winner was Sandy Bonar. Eric Brown was the overall winner in Group 3. The A&W Player of the Week goes to Michelle Beaubien for winning Group 4 and moving up 6 spots.. Congrats to Michelle.

Last weeks A&W Player of the Week was Gord Cavanagh.
