Ontario’s Lieutenant-Governor is paying her first visit to northwestern Ontario.
Edith Dumont is spending a couple of days in the Kenora area.
She says even though her visit is short, she already knows there are things that can be shared with the outside world.
“I’m thinking especially about the round-circle and the seven teachings that are used in the judiciary system and even at the hospital as well, in the healing process,” Dumont told a gathering at the Discovery Center Monday afternoon.
She adds that even though Ontario is a large province, this region has a lot to offer.
“It has challenges that change from one region to another region, and I think you have best practices to share with not only the province, but probably across Canada.”
Dumont will wrap up her visit Tuesday with stops at the Youth Justice Center and the Family and Youth Wellness Camp on Black Sturgeon Lake.
