It’s that time of the year again for Samaritan’s Purse: Operation Christmas Child.
Starting today until Nov. 18, you can pick up an empty shoebox and fill it with gifts for children in need. These boxes are then shipped around the world by Samaritan’s Purse to third world countries where there is a need, as well as areas affected by natural disasters or war. Destinations include the West Coast of Africa, Ukraine, South America, and the Philippines.
Empty boxes and brochures can be picked up at the Kenora Public Library (lower level) or Kenora Home Hardware, and then returned to the same location once filled. If you need a large number of boxes, call Mary at 204-392-5322 to arrange pickup.
Items to include in these shoeboxes:
- School supplies: books, pencils, notebooks.
- Toys: Dolls, balls, jump ropes, stuffed animals.
- Hygiene items: toothbrushes, combs, facecloths (no soap or liquids).
- Clothing: age-appropriate items such as socks, shirts.
Do not include food, candy, gum, medications, vitamins, war-related toys or breakable items.
