The Onigaming First Nation has paid tribute to Wab Kinew.
Kinew is the new premier of Manitoba and was born and raised on Onigaming, southeast of Kenora.
A special celebration was held on Saturday at the roundhouse.
Attendees including Treaty #3 Grand Chief Frances Kavenaugh, Alvin Fiddler, the Grand Chief of the Nishinabe Aski Nation, MPP Sol Mamakwa and Grand Chief Cathy Merrick of the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs.
Kinew is the first elected Anicinaabe premier of a Canadian province.
