Mayors of Dryden and Kenora meet with cabinet ministers

The mayors of Kenora and Dryden are heading to Toronto next week for a pair of meetings with provincial cabinet ministers.

Kenora mayor Andrew Poirier says they have one hour each to speak with the Minister of the Solicitor General and the Minister of Long Term Care.

Poirier says he and Jack Harrison have the same issues they want to bring up.

They want to talk about the high cost of policing in their communities.

As well, they want the unincorporated areas in the Kenora District to help pay for the long term care homes.

Right now, residents living outside municipal limits don’t pay anything towards the Kenora District Homes for the Aged.

The meetings will take place next Thursday.
