Local sports for Monday, November 27th

The Kam River Fighting Walleye and the Sioux Lookout Bombers both hold down the top two spots in the SIJHL standings.

They both have 32 points, but the Walleye have played three fewer games.

Over the weekend, the Bombers blanked the expansion Kenora Islanders 7-0, while Kam River downed the Fort Frances Lakers 6-2.

The Dryden GM Ice Dogs were the busiest team over the weekend playing three games.

The Ice Dogs won both ends of a double header against the Thunder Bay North Stars, 3-2 in overtime Sunday, and 5-4 on Saturday.

Friday night, Dryden was edged 5-4 by the Red Lake Miners.

The Miners also got by the Islanders 9-2 on Saturday in Kenora.

Another tough weekend for the Kenora U18 AAA Thistles.

The Thistles were blanked Saturday night 4-0 by the Interlake Lightning.

On Sunday, the Lightning earned a 5-2 victory.

Cole Bodnar and Carter Peters were the lone goal scorers for the Thistles in that game.

The Kenora Thistles are back home on Wednesday night when they host the Eastman Selects at the Moncrief Construction Sports Center.
