More earthquakes recorded in northwestern Ontario

More seismic activity is being reported around the Ignace and Atikokan areas.

Earthquakes Canada identifies three minor quakes in recent days.

Two were measured Saturday night near Mamaigwess Lake, about 25 kilometres west of the community.

A microquake struck at about 7:30 p.m., measuring at 1.3 magnitude.

A larger shake near the same area that measured 2.7 threee hours later.

Last Thursday, a tremor was recorded near White Otter Lake, north of Atikokan, measuring 1.1.

Seismic activity in that area has been recorded three separate times over the past two weeks.

There are no reports of anyone feeling the ground move or if any damages were caused.

There have been nine quakes in northwestern Ontario this year.
