A 52 year old Winnipeg man has been arrested following a bizarre incident just west of Kenora.

On Wednesday night around 11:30 the OPP were told that someone had jumped in the back of a pick-up truck in the area of Highway 17 and Shoal Lake.

Through investigation it was determined the suspect had warrants out in Manitoba as well as British Columbia.

He was also in possession of an edged weapon.

He was placed under arrest and faces several charges.

Those include possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, drug trafficking in an opioid, property obtained by crime under 5 thousand dollars and three counts of failing to comply with a release order.

He has been release from custody and due to appear in Kenora Court on Monday.
