Tax filing season begins Monday

It is time to start gathering all of that paperwork for your tax return.

Next Monday, Feb. 19, is the first day you can file your 2023 return online.

Those who file on paper should get their income tax package in the mail by then.

Most Canadians have until April 30 to get their tax returns to the Canada Revenue Agency.

The deadline is a few weeks later for self-employed individuals, who have until June 17.

However, the deadline to pay any owing taxes for all Canadians is April 30.

You have to file a tax return in order to receive many federal and provincial benefits.

More details about what is now for the 2023 tax year can be found on the Canada Revenue Agency’s website.
