Full confidence and excitement are the two descriptors Mayor Jack Harrison has following the announcement a new hotel and conference centre will be coming to Dryden this year.
On Wednesday Wabigoon Lake Ojibway Nation announced the project which would see a former RV Park redeveloped, which Harrison says would be a considerable investment for his city.
“At this point what the full development is, as there is a hotel development and commercial so we’re looking forward to hearing what the full $25 million will be put into in the City of Dryden in that location.”
The 9-acre development is being lead by the Wabigoon Lake Ojibway Nation.
Meanwhile, Harrison believes the hotel, which is branded under the Studio 6 Extended Stay Suites franchise, could provide a solution to an issue which has stunted growth.
He says businesses are finding it difficult to attract workers due to a lack of housing on the market in the city.
“If employees can stay for an extended stay and then are able to look or even build a house in Dryden, there might be an opportunity to utilize this hotel.”
Construction is expected to begin this June, with an anticipated completion time of one year.
