Winter Weekend of Wonder this weekend

The City of Kenora is holding it’s annual winter carnival this weekend.

It’s being called the Winter Weekend of Wonder.

Tourism Development officer Josh Nelson says a number of events will take place tonight on the Harbourfront.

“Tonight you have underneath the Jarnel Contracting Pavilion, you’ve got the fireworks, there’s a couple of shows, there’s an LED show and a fire show,” says Nelson.

“There will be some hot chocolate, s’mores and fire pits.”

Nelson adds that while most of the events tonight will take place under the Janel Contracting Pavilion, there will be events all day Saturday and Sunday.

“Saturday is considered a community day so there’s a bunch of events. Then on Sunday, the City of Kenora and Tourism Kenora is doing some events at the Rabbit Lake Skating Trail, so there be some ice bikes down there, there’s a super skills competition and Kenora Sportsplex is open and will be free of charge. So it’s really to get people out into the community.

The fireworks will take place at 6:45 tonight.
