SIU clears Dryden OPP officer

The Ontario Special Investigations Unit has cleared a Dryden OPP officer of any wrong doing in regards to an injury to a fleeing suspect.

The incident took place last November at a Dryden motel.

The SIU says police responded to a 911 phone call traced to the Chalet Inn Motel on Government Street.

The call was disconnected and officers say no one answered the door.

The suspect then exited the rear door of the room and police urged him not to jump over the railing.

He fell and resulting in fractures to both of his feet.

The SIU says the arresting officers reacted promptly to arrange medical care and suggests there was not enough time to prevent his fall.

He was arrested for violating a release order that prevented him from being with his girlfriend.
