Handgun seized at Kenora airport

A traveller from the United States was denied entry to the country at the Kenora airport last month, after border officials discovered a prohibited firearm onboard the aircraft they arrived in.

The Canada Border Services Agency says it had dispatched officers from its Fort Frances port of entry to Kenora to perform a verification on the plane on February 21st.

It was then they found and seized the unloaded 9mm pistol.

The traveler was then sent away on the aircraft.

A spokesperson for the CBSA says the handgun has been sent to the RCMP to be destroyed.
