Ford promises to cut gas tax until end of year

The Ford government says it will continue it’s gas tax cut until the end of the year.

The tax cut will be contained in Tuesday’s budget.

Premier Doug Ford this is to counter-act the federal government’s Carbon Tax hike on April 1st.

“This measure will ensure that that rate cut remains at 10.7 cents per liter until the end of year,” Ford said at a news conference Monday morning.

“Saving households an average $320 in two and a half years since the tax cut was first introduced.”

Ford adds that it’s to help counteract the affects of the Carbon Tax increase that goes into effect as of April 1st.

“Starting next week, the total of the federal Carbon Tax will be 17.6 cents per liter of gas, increasing everything that moves.”

Ford is once again urging the prime minister to scrap the Carbon Tax increase, which will see the price of a liter of gas go up by 3 cents.
