The Northwestern Health Unit has issued an advisory about next month’s partial eclipse of the sun.
It says staring directly at the sun without any protection can cause serious vision problems.
Viewing glasses are recommended because sunglasses, cameras, telescopes and binoculars are simply not safe.
Canadian Association of Optometrists recommends viewing the event online, or making an eclipse box which is essentially a pinhole projector.
The partial eclipse will take place on April 8th from 1 to 3:30 pm Central Time.
The Health Unit says during this time the solar radiation being emitted from the sun can cause “eclipse blindness” or retinal burns.
