TBPS to address Hauth charges

An update is expected after the ex-police chief in Thunder Bay was arrested and charged with obstruction of justice.

Sylvie Hauth is facing various obstruction related charges along with breach of trust.

The 57 year-old was suspended in 2022 after the civilian police commission brought misconduct charges against her but she retired before a hearing could be held on those allegations.

The current police chief in Thunder Bay will meet with the media later on Monday to discuss the most recent charges.

Hauth is the third current or ex-member of the police force in Thunder Bay who’s been charged in recent months.

Thunder Bay’s police lawyer Holly Walbourne and Staff Sergeant Michael Dimini also face a number of charges.
