Lac Seul reaches flooding agreement with feds

The Lac Seul First Nation has concluded negotiations with the federal government on a flooding settlement.

The agreement calls for compensation of $234 million.

This follows a Supreme Court Decision that said the government did not protect the First Nations interest in respect of flooding caused by the creation of a hydro-electric dam in 1930.

The settlement was finalized at the end of March, after community members ratified the agreement earlier in the month.
