ELA relaunches artist-in-residence program

The Experimental Lakes Area east of Kenora has relaunched its artist-in-residence program.

This year, Manitoba children’s author and artist Audrey Lute has been selected.

She expects the experience will generate a lot of artistic opportunities.

“I’m actually spending two weeks there,” explains Lute.

“I’m going in this week and then I’ll be back in September. I’ll get a general overview and start putting together my stories and doing some sketches and getting the layout for my paintings. It’s going to be a busy time.”

Lute adds in addition to doing her own art, she’ll have a chance to meet the researchers and some of the projects they are working on.

“”I’m really pleased. I’ll meet members…tour the micro-plastics experiment. So I’ll have lots down time to learn and put together my thoughts. Work on my books and paint. It’s going to be great.”

Lute says as part of the program, she’ll donate one of her works of art to the ISSD-ELA at a ceremony in the fall.
