First Farmers Market of the year scheduled Wednesday

The Matiowski Farmers Market is getting ready to open for another season.

The first market will take place on Wednesday under the Jarnel Contracting Pavilion.

Helena Devins organizes the market for the City of Kenora and says this year they’ll have 17 markets in all.

“This is our 18th year and it’s very exciting to be ready for another Matiowski Farmer’s Market season with over 100 vendors and some of the community groups around the Harbourfront,” says Devins.

Devin’s is pleased that so many of the vendors are locally based.

“I mean it’s great to have Muriel Shores Farm who is a local as a produce vendor. Many of our artisans and crafters are local and then regionally we have other produce vendors or meat vendors coming up from the Emo/Rainy River area. Some come from across the Manitoba border.”

The Matiowski Farmer’s Market will take place from 8:30 until 2:00 every Wednesday.
