Northern Development Minister not thinking election

An early provincial election is not on Greg Rickford’s mind.

There is speculation Premier Ford may pull the plug as early as next spring.

The Ontario Liberals have started to name candidates while the NDP is busy putting its campaign team in place.

Kenora-Rainy River M-P-P says it is business as usual for him.

“This is a summer of me doing my work. That’s what I do every summer. And I think folks across the region, Kenora-Rainy River, appreciate what we’re doing,” says Rickford.
Rickford adds he will continue that work until an election is called.

The next provincial election is slated for June 2026.

An early election speculation was fuelled by the decision to expand beer and wine sales one year earlier than planned and the Premier sidestepping election questions when asked.
